Human Resources

You will need to be able to apply the science, craft and art of HR.

What we do
Shell Human Resources (HR) is responsible for optimising the business by effectively managing and deploying the most valuable resource of all – our people. We’re involved in everything from recruitment and performance management through to learning and development.

‘Central HR’ designs and implements the policies, processes and practices that achieve the Shell’s core objectives. These involve developing ‘people strategies’ that will position the Group for the future, building a culture that blends the best of our past with new influences for the future, and ensuring HR efficiently and effectively delivers on its key processes and activities.

Central HR is a shared service of excellence for the entire Shell Group. It is an enabler of high value-adding Human Resource management, and works closely with HR within Shell’s various businesses to create a seamless global function.

Is Shell Human Resources right for you?
A career in Human Resources can be demanding and challenging, but if you’re right for the job, you’ll find it stimulating and fulfilling. Shell HR includes a broad spectrum of specialties within the company but essentially the role is people-orientated, so being skilled at human interaction is essential.

To truly succeed at Shell, you will need to be able to apply the science, craft and art of HR. By science, we mean the models, theories, concepts and values that underpin all that HR does. By craft, we mean the knowledge and experience of our policies, processes and systems that you learn mostly on the job. And by art, we mean your personal credibility to influence leaders and teams, your instinct for handling issues, your ability to create and use networks, and the courage to challenge robustly when needed.
