Thanks a million!
Today Shell became the first energy company to attract one million followers on LinkedIn!
No small feat, Shell now ranks among top brands such as Accenture, Apple, Deloitte, Google, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and Unilever to hold this distinction.
“Through LinkedIn we have established Shell as a sought-after employer, and have just been ranked as the number one Most Engaged Brand in the Netherlands,” * says Don Bulmer, Head of Social Media and Innovation.
Don believes LinkedIn has allowed Shell to create strong and relevant connections with people.“Nearly 80% of our 92,000 employees worldwide are engaged on the platform, and through our groups we are facilitating awareness, education and dialogue every day on the topics that establish preference for Shell as a company.”
Our commitment to technology and innovation continues to be at the core of our company’s strategy. As a global leader in the oil and gas industry we are investing in social media channels such as LinkedIn because we can see that it will be the future of recruitment. It makes sense that to attract forward-thinking, talented individuals we should use the most advanced channels available.
In addition, we are committed to sharing the latest information on energy and innovation and providing a platform for some of our executives to speak directly with followers on topics of interest.
And it’s already working. One of our latest recruits, Greg Jones, shares how LinkedIn became the linchpin when it came to accelerating his career.
“I have always been an enthusiast for networking and LinkedIn was the perfect tool to stay connected with my contacts, but I never predicted it would introduce me to my perfect role. When working hard in a job I enjoyed, I unexpectedly received an email enquiring about my suitability for an upcoming position with a market leader in the energy sector.
That contact opened my eyes to the exciting opportunities Shell has to offer and now I work for a dynamic, fast moving company with great benefits and future opportunities. I couldn’t be happier and that’s all thanks to Shell’s approach to recruitment.”
