The Smithsonian Institution and Shell Gabon join forces on improving human-elephant coexistence in Gabon
The forest elephant is a species essential to conservation of the protected areas of the Gamba Complex (GC), the focus of the Smithsonian Institution’s Gabon Biodiversity Program (GBP). The GBP, which aims to increase knowledge and understanding of biodiversity in Gabon, is a partnership between Shell Gabon and the Smithsonian Institution.
Saturday, October 19, at the Beach Club of Libreville, under the direction of the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Sustainable Development, the President Directeur General (PDG) of Shell Gabon and in the presence of the Governor of the Ogooue Maritime province, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Gabon, local authorities of the Department of Ndougou, and members of Shell Gabon Board of Directors, 205 Shell Gabon employees from Rabi, Toucan, Koula Libreville, Port-Gentil and Gamba, received long service awards in the presence of their families.
