Shell has developed “Minimum Standards” for Environmental management which are implemented globally. Shell Egypt was the first exploration and production company in Egypt to obtain ISO 14001 certification. Shell Egypt is an active participant in a number of environmental protection and conservation associations. These include the Mediterranean Oil Industry Group (MOIG), the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), the Petroleum Industry Environmental Protection Committee (PIEPC), The Egypt Oil & Gas HSE Forum (EOGHSE) and the association of Enterprises for Environmental Conservation (AEEC).

Safety

A key pillar of Shell’s HSE Management System is the “Goal Zero” initiative which was rolled out in 2008. It is a simple message of "no harm to people" ie. no deaths, no injuries and no significant incidents in any of our operations, any time. It means really believing that we can operate effectively with zero fatalities, zero accidents and zero significant incidents. Our aim is to make Goal Zero a reality in our operations, by managing safety as a critical business activity and not compromising it under any circumstances. Safety always takes priority!
