Cairo, 18th August 2011: Jeroen Regtien has been appointed as the new chairman for the Shell Companies in Egypt succeeding Ahmad Atallah who has moved to work as Chairman of Shell Kuwait.

Before joining Shell Egypt, Mr. Regtien was Vice President Hydrocarbon Recovery Technologies in The Netherlands. He graduated as an experimental physicist from Groningen State University and started his professional career with Shell Research in the Netherlands in computer science and reservoir engineering.

He had a variety of roles since in the Netherlands, US, Brunei, Australia and Oman including reservoir engineering, technology development, planning and strategy, petroleum engineering, field development and asset management.

“I am pleased to move to Egypt in this critical time where there are many challenges and opportunities that, given Shell’s presence and investment in Egypt for over one hundred years, will keep us busy and focused for many more years to come. As we pursue increased activity levels in the Western Desert and Nile Delta, I look forward to working with EGPC, EGAS, the Ministry of Petroleum and our Joint Venture partners in our concessions”, said Jeroen.
