At our strategically placed world-scale integrated assets, Shell chemicals companies work continually to improve the proprietary SMPO process, with a clear focus on reducing the manufacturing footprint of our plants.
Our oldest SMPO plant was designed to operate using natural or fuel gas. Other plants use either similar fuels or sulfur-free fuels. Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions are continually monitored and challenging improvement targets are set to further reduce the already compliant volatile emissions and energy consumption levels.
