Clive Grant
Associate General Counsel (Chemicals)
Clive Grant took up his current global role of Associate General Counsel responsible for Shell Chemicals worldwide legal affairs in April 2006. He heads up a multi jurisdictional legal team which provides legal advice in all areas of Shell Chemicals business including commercial contracting and project development. As a member of the chemicals leadership team Clive sits on various committees and teams within chemicals including those responsible for progressing major projects, the management of contract risk and business assurance.
Clive joined Shell after obtaining first class honours in law at Cambridge University and qualifying with Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw. During his career he has worked for most businesses in Shell and has spent time in most regions including Europe, South America, the US and Asia.
Clive was based in Hong Kong for most of the 1990s working as General Counsel for the Shell Companies in North East Asia. He focused primarily on projects in China including the Nanhai Project in Daya Bay. His varied career has included business development as well as legal roles and a period as de facto chief operating officer for Shell Legal globally.
Clive is married with three daughters. His wife is portfolio director of a venture philanthropy charity. Outside the office Clive is a keen sailor and cyclist. He is a regular concert and theatre goer and trustee of the national charity Youth Music.
