The Shell Graduate Programme

As a specialist geoscientists you’ll join the Shell Graduate Programme for Geoscience which is a technical, three-year blended learning programme. It is a combination of on-the-job development, structured training and fieldwork, designed to introduce you to the full scope of Shell’s operations, build your networks and give you a broad foundation for your future career. You’ll be able to apply your skills and be assigned to work as part of a team on a current technical project. During the Shell Graduate Programme you’ll have the chance to rotate between roles, all the while working closely with senior technical experts.

Specialist Geoscience

Join Shell as a Specialist Geoscientist and you’ll use your specific technical expertise to support and guide your Geoscience colleagues in the search for, and safe development of commercially viable hydrocarbon reserves. This may be in a research role or as part of a project team. Shell actively explores for both conventional and unconventional oil and gas in more than 35 countries, has production in more than 25 countries and is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities across the rest of the globe.

Roles and responsibilities

A Specialist Geoscience career offers you a wide array of roles and responsibilities that include: 

  • Structural Geologist
  • Carbonate Sedimentologist
  • Clastic Sedimentologist
  • Basin Modeller
  • Geochemist
  • Biostratigrapher 
  • Petrographer

Whether working at global, regional, basin or field scale, you will deploy the latest technologies and work in integrated teams with colleagues from the other Geoscience disciplines (Exploration Geoscience, Geophysics and Production Geoscience), Well Engineering and Petroleum Engineering.

On completion of the Shell Graduate Programme, we want you to have developed a detailed understanding of Exploration Geoscience, Geophysics, Production Geoscience, Specialist Geoscience, and the overall Shell business.
