Pentanes – aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents
Shell chemicals companies are leading suppliers of Pentanes, a group of high purity aliphatic hydrocarbon solvents that comprises normal- and iso-Pentane and blends of the two components.
With a narrow boiling range, consistent composition and fast evaporation Pentanes are primarily used as propellants in aerosols, as blowing agents in foams (eg expandable polystyrene) and as reaction media in chemical processes such as polymerisation.

Special boiling point (SBP) solvents are versatile fast to medium evaporating aliphatic hydrocarbon fluids with very low impurities and aromatics content and narrow boiling ranges.
Isoparaffins are produced with controlled feedstocks and process conditions resulting in consistent composition, structure and performance and low levels of impurities.
