Shell has been awarded the feather award for Safety in both Port Elizabeth Airport and Cape Town International Airport for 2011. The feather award is an annual award in which Operators and service providers at ACSA are recognized for service excellence in various categories. To qualify, the provider must be performing to highest international benchmarks in airport operations. 234 airports participate in the benchmarking globally.
Operations in Cape Town have won 6 out of the last 10 awards including 2010 and 2011. Port Elizabeth also joined in as a winner for the first time in 2011.
Mr Momodou Bah was also awarded the General Manager’s award. The General Manager’s award is the highest award in the individual category. In the citation the GM of CTIA, Mr Deon Cloete indicated that the award was for most sustained improvement in the critical service areas which have the potential to shut the airport down. Momodou was selected for leadership in driving the issues and challenges on the ground and for restoring predictability into the service challenges.
