Community Initiatives in Dubai
Our role as a responsible corporate citizen is more than just a convenient slogan. In fact, since 1957 our community initiatives have helped build and cement the trust and confidence of our partners, communities and the people of the UAE.
Emirates Businesswomen Award (EBA)
The Emirates Business Women Award is an award which is aimed at publicly acknowledging-and rewarding-the work that is being carried out by businesswomen (Nationals & Expatriates) in the UAE today by identifying and recognising outstanding business prowess.
Women make up half the worlds population. They have long been a powerful force in economic decision-making all over the world, particularly in purchasing within the consumer market, and have contributed on the world scene in many fields. Women are also developing as business leaders and will, increasingly, go on to hold business positions at the highest levels of decision making and corporate leadership.
The Emirates Businesswomen Award is targeted to provide a showcase for businesswomen so as to encourage women to take an active role in the strategic development of UAE as well as the region. The award intends to raise the profile of the businesswomen working in the UAE today.
These outstanding women will come to the attention of the wider community, exposing them to new business opportunities, networks and friendships. The Emirates Businesswomen Award is supported by the Dubai Quality Group under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, with the support of the Emirates Business Women Council & UNDP.
Now in its third year, the program has established itself as not only a recognition tool but as a self assessment to all participating women in the UAE. The First International Corporate Social Responsibility Summit
Shell’s aim to become a prime example of corporate social responsibility took another major step in April 2004, when we sponsored the First International Corporate Social Responsibility Summit in Dubai. The first event of its kind in the region, eminent regional and international speakers provided valuable insights on how to make lasting contributions to society through the support of health, environmental and educational activities.
As a world-class company, Shell associates itself with some of the most prestigious international events in the Middle East, including the world’s richest horse race (the Dubai World Cup); the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix; the Dubai Desert Classic golf tournament; and the Dubai Airshow.
