Dubai Airport's Joint Industry Fuel Farm achieves back-to-back landmark ratings from inspectors

The past decade has witnessed an impressive performance of the Joint Industry Fuel Farm (JIFF) at Dubai International Airport. Established in 1998, JIFF is the only fuel storage and supply joint venture of five major oil companies – BP, Chevron, Emarat (Emojet), ENOC and Shell, which has managed the joint venture for the past two years on a rotational basis.

In 2009, the Joint Inspection Group (JIG), an industry body whose accredited inspectors audit the fuel farm each year, awarded JIFF the highest rating that can be given to any Oil Company or Consortium in the world. The same level of excellence was again duplicated in 2010.

The ratings that JIFF achieved in the past two years had previously been thought close to impossible to achieve.

The JIG auditors’ assessment covered a wide range of categories, which are safety, product quality assurance, staff competency, ERP procedures, and compliance with operational procedures and standards.

The inspections are carried out meticulously each year to ensure that the joint venture partners follow international safety and operational guidelines.

Furhan Khan, Fuel Farm Manager at JIFF says: “2009 was the first time that we had achieved this level of excellence.

To receive two 'Excellent Ratings' in a row is a fantastic achievement for the team as it does not happen very often throughout the whole world. This achievement is a source of great pride for everyone who works for and with JIFF.”

The 'Excellent Rating' is also significant for Dubai Airport, as it reinforced the airport’s global reputation for the highest operational and safety standards as well as reliability and efficiency.
