Shell Aviation Renews Fuel concession at Dubai airport

Dubai, 15 August 2009: Shell Markets Middle East Limited (herein referred to as ‘Shell’) announced recently the renewal of the Aviation Fuel Concession Agreement at Dubai International Airport signed with the Dubai Airports.

The agreement, which was signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports confirms Shell’s presence at the growing Dubai International Airport, currently the sixth largest airport in the world in terms of international passenger traffic.
Shell has been present in the UAE for 75 years, and has been a partner of Dubai International Airport supplying fuel to aviation customers for nearly 40 years. Under the terms of the concession, Shell will continue to supply aviation fuel to customers at Dubai Airport thus helping to fuel Dubai’s future growth.

Richard Jory, Regional General Manager, Shell Aviation, Middle East, South & Central Asia, Africa said: “Shell is delighted with this landmark agreement. It is even more special as it was signed almost 100 years to the day since Shell Aviation fuelled its first aircraft, that of Louis Blériot in 1909. Shell brings all its experience, technology and global best practice to its operations at Dubai International Airport and currently manages the fuel farm on behalf of the industry.

“Safety is the number one priority for Shell and I am pleased to say that we have delivered our products and services to Dubai International Airport following the highest safety standards. We also have a proud track record of delivery and innovation in Dubai; improved bitumen for the runways, specially formulated jet fuel, Shell AeroJet, for business jets and even the first next generation turbine engine oil, AeroShell Ascender, launched by Neil Armstrong at the last Dubai Airshow.

“The aviation industry has always been driven by technology. We will continue to make sure that our customers in Dubai benefit from Shell’s latest technological developments, hopefully for the next 100 years!”
